About Me

What I love most about videography is the freedom it gives you to tell a story

Background

Ever since my parents first bought a camcorder around the early 1990's I've been interested in filmmaking. Being able to capture video footage of important family events, holidays, and even just day to day life, has brought happiness to lots of people.

A few years after catching the videography bug, I applied to Channel 4 Racing to become a cameraman. At the time, the idea of combining my love for horse racing and videography would've been a dream come true. One rejection later, I gave up on the idea and returned to a safer career in IT.

I often wonder what could've been...

Hobbyist

In the years that followed, I owned many different camcorders, including several that recorded to tape. Without expensive equipment, editing footage was impossible. But as home computing took off, and with the advent of digital video recording, video editing suddenly became viable for hobbyists like me.

Editing

This really was a game-changer. For example, being able to shorten clips, rearrange their order, or add special effects was a huge breakthrough. It allowed me to be much more creative, enabling me to create stories in my films.

It wasn't just the visuals though - audio editing also became an option. Now I was able to add layers to the sound design with the introduction of sound effects and music.

Over the years I've used several different video editing tools, including Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, Kdenlive and most recently Davinci Resolve Studio by Blackmagic Design.

I am currently studying to become certified in Davinci Resolve Studio.

Starting F-stop Films

Now that I have the knowledge, equipment and experience needed to create professional quality films, I'm keen to pursue my original dream and offer my services to you.

I want you to feel like I'm creating the film that you want. I'll take the time to understand your vision in order to create something you'll love watching.

Storytelling

Ultimately, the greatest thrill for me is creating everlasting memories, preserving details that would otherwise slowly erode over time. Being a filmmaker allows me to capture these moments, editing them into films that tell your story.
